The Pilgrim Goose Felt Ornament

The Pilgrim Goose Felt Ornament

by Susan | Dec 8, 2012 | Bird Patterns, Domestic Bird Patterns, Felt Patterns

A goose is on the list of critters I’d like to add to the farm. The Pilgrim Goose would make a good sentinel for the property. However, until we have more open space and a budget that includes feed for the geese, I’ll have to settle for this goose. Right...
A Rooster In My Garden Felt Ornament

A Rooster In My Garden Felt Ornament

by Susan | Mar 9, 2012 | Bird Patterns, Domestic Bird Patterns, Felt Patterns

I don’t make a very good patient. I’ve been stuck home with bronchitis. In between naps, whining about being sick, and nagged about keeping my behind in bed, I worked on this little rooster. Inspired by our Bantam roosters, Pepper and Clover, you can play...
A Buff in the Box – Felt Chicken Ornament Pattern

by Susan | Jan 29, 2012 | Bird Patterns, Domestic Bird Patterns, Felt Patterns

This little felt chicken ornament was inspired by our own Buff Orpington chickens. Often when we check for eggs, there’s a Buff in the Box – that is a Buff in the nesting box getting settling to lay an egg. We have 12 chickens, six nesting boxes, and they...

I have a little chickadee, making a home in the bi I have a little chickadee, making a home in the birdhouse hanging in my oak tree (far left in pic). I hung this solar lantern that no longer works (it used to be Mom’s) filled with scraps of wool from a rug hooking class. I’m hoping the birds will take bits and pieces to line their nests. It feels so hopeful. 😊
I couldn’t be more excited about this visitor! I s I couldn’t be more excited about this visitor! I spot cardinals in our yard every couple of years. They make me think of my Mom, who gravitated to the flashy. ❤️

This afternoon I made some finials for my garden o This afternoon I made some finials for my garden obelisks. I’m lucky that Paul has all the tools. I had a stash of 2 x 2 wood lengths, the perfect size, left over from another project. I drew a very basic design and borrowed his bandsaw and belt sander for the project. They’re a little rough, but they make the obelisks look complete.
My project for the day was making these obelisks f My project for the day was making these obelisks for some climbers. Being somewhat geometrically challenged, I’m happy they’re together and are standing. Finials for the type will finished them off.
I’ve come a long way in the few decent days we’ve I’ve come a long way in the few decent days we’ve had over the last two weeks. A fifth new raised bed installed and filled. The soil from last year’s pots emptied, sifted, enhanced with compost, and back into pots. More than a dozen bags of soil and compost moved around. A gutter fixed after the snow ripped it off this winter and the rain barrels full again. Grass seed planted in the rough spot of the yard. A sad looking wood obelisk created. The next two should be smoother now that I know what I’m doing. All in all, I’m feeling accomplished with a body that feels a little achy-breaky tonight.
What spectacular pups. ❤️ What spectacular pups. ❤️
