WHRL’s Winter Festival launched today. I have so much fun planning my contributions for this event each year – I love seeing people’s reactions to my creations. This year seeing how Hannah’s contributions are received is even more delightful.

Her first tree in the auction is Tom Nook’s Animal Crossing Tree from the video game Animal Crossing. I don’t play this, but I understand the game is popular with children and adults alike.

She painted sheets of paper with watercolors that she used to create the tree. She also painted the buildings and characters from the game.

Her description for this tree:

Step into the imaginary world of Animal Crossing: New Horizons with Tom Nook!

Tom Nook is vacationing from his island paradise to find a new friend at the WHRL Christmas Tree Auction. Tom has brought all sorts of goodies and gifts from his island to share with you. He has a custom watercolor painted tree, buildings, and friends.

Tom also brought some gifts to share – including an Animal Crossing Monopoly Game and three plushies – an apple, a bag of bells, and a leaf item.

Snuggle up to this Tom Nook Build-A-Bear plushie, complete with a winter outfit and bell hand-held accessory. Squeeze his left paw and have a conversation with him!

Hannah’s second contribution is stunning. She’s been dabbling – well, more than dabbling – with linoleum block printing. This tree is called “The Gift of Giving.” She carved a leaf pattern on linoleum block and then printed paper that she then used to cut petals (or branches) from to craft this tree. Lights are woven through the petals.

Her tree includes four of her Peace on Earth linoleum block prints. Keep one; give the others. These are stunning and reminiscent of my great-great aunt’s linoleum block print Christmas posters.

These are just marvelous. I can’t wait to see what Hannah comes up with next!
