Introducing my new Downeast Thunder Felt Pattern Kits for sale!

My felt pattern obsession started out as a hobby in 2011. To date I’ve created over 160 patterns! Sharing them online seemed like a natural thing to do. Hearing from so many people who enjoy the patterns has brought me joy. I love that you’ve gifted the ornaments, used them to raise money for non-profits, and to help create awareness about wildlife.

For starters, I’ve selected 14 of my birds for pattern kits – a third of them owls. No surprise there!.

I’ve revamped each pattern. In the early days my drawing and pattern making skills were a bit rustic. These are streamlined and consistent.

The full-size patterns are for a 4-5-inch felt bird (or soon to be critter!) with detailed instructions and an embroidery stitch guide. Pattern pieces are labeled with the felt color to be used, but I’ve also given you the trade name for the felt I’ve selected for this pattern in the event you wish to make more.

The kits include everything you’ll need to make one ornament; all you’ll need to supply are scissors and pins.

  • The full-size pattern,
  • wool-blend felt made in the United States,
  • embroidery and beading needles,
  • glass seed beads to accent the eyes,
  • embroidery floss,
  • and wire for legs (if required of your ornament),
  • and fiberfill are included in the packet.

I will continue to create and share my free plans. As always, the free patterns are your personal, not-for-profit use. You are encouraged to make these in any form (ornaments, felting, quilting, applique, etc.) and sell for, non-profit fund-raising.

With the purchase of my plans through a bird or critter felt kit or book (some day!) you are welcome to create ornaments and sell them for personal profit.

Thanks to everyone who has provided feedback and suggestions are I’ve been planning for this!

Have fun!
Susan
