felt garland pieces

After creating felt ornaments for more than 13 years, you can imagine the scraps I’ve collected. Occasionally, I’ll dip into the scrap bin for a bit of this or that, but the scraps have mostly been forgotten. Christmas shopping with Hannah yesterday, I spotted a window display tree decorated with a colored felt garland. That got me thinking about my scrap bin. I sorted through it, pulling out the festive colors, and cut them into squares approximately 1”.

I threaded them onto a string with a bead in between each piece of felt.

Although I still had scraps, I stopped at 4 feet when I ran out of string. It’s the perfect length for this little tree.

recycled calendar greeting cards

Inspired by a friend’s use of an old wall calendar to create greeting cards,  I dug out last year’s Rifle Paper Co. Calendar that I couldn’t bear to toss. I had pruned away at these images with a paper punch to make gift tags over the year, but I was able to rescue enough of the designs to make these sweet greeting cards. I had some spare envelopes that fit the larger cards, but I’ll have to make some envelopes for the smaller ones.

I love that I’ve found a happy use for these items. Maybe they’ll inspire you. Enjoy!
