susan and dad

I just returned home from a two-week visit with my dad in Pennsylvania. I made excellent time on the drive back, completing it in just 12.5 hours. The trip down on the Friday of the holiday weekend took an exhausting 17 hours—a record-long journey.

This morning, I woke up utterly exhausted but was delighted to see that there were still autumn colors in my yard.

Hannah told me the blueberry barrens were at their peak and asked if she could take me for a drive so I wouldn’t miss out on the vibrant autumn colors.

It was a moody, overcast day that really allowed the crimson barrens to stand out.

Each twist and turn on our drive revealed another breathtaking landscape, with shades of red, gold, and burnt orange painting the horizon. I felt grateful to be surrounded by such beauty.

While many trees have already lost their leaves, the remaining gold ones provided a beautiful contrast.

By the time we returned home, my heart was lighter and my spirit lifted. It’s moments like these—filled with appreciation for nature and good company—are what truly rejuvenate us.

And then I had a nap on the sofa.
