As I crossed the bridge in town on my way to work, I did a double-take. Was that a seal on the rock? It’s a rare day that I remember to bring my camera, but today was one of those fortunate days. I made a U-turn, parked on the edge of the road and walked back, dodging the morning traffic to get a closer look. Sure enough, what I call our neighborhood seal was lounging contentedly on a rock. A delightful bonus was the great blue heron perched on a nearby seaweed-covered rock. This unexpected sight of two such different creatures resting side by side created a magical moment, reminding me of the beauty of nature and brought a few moments of peace.

What an exciting and beautiful life you have! Thank you for always sharing your beautiful countryside.
How cool is that?! I live not far from Ipswich, Essex, and other coastal areas but I’ve hardly ever seen a seal! We’ve had a Great Blue Heron tiptoeing through our field in search of frogs and baby mice though. He’s really neat. Very patient bird!
