My recent trip home to my parent’s home was supposed to be purely fun. What was unanticipated was mom spending a week in the hospital and undergoing emergency surgery. I sewed this little butterfly while sitting in the OR waiting room, trying to keep my mind busy so I wouldn’t think about the many “what ifs.” She defied some scary odds and came through with flying colors. Still, I felt I couldn’t share this butterfly until mom came home from the hospital. That happened today, and I’ll forever think about this pattern as Nancy’s butterfly. This one’s for you, mom! I love you!
