I am drawn to patterns and textures in nature.

That fascination was nourished at Coastal Maine Botanical Garden last week.

I see patterns in the flowers,

and in the trees.

I notice textures in the contrasts,

and in the man made versus the natural.

I spot it in the delightful,

and in the unexpected.

I recognize it in the detail,

and when it’s hiding underneath,

and in the curious.

Perhaps it’s the patterns found in and created by ferns that delight me most.

Ferns turn a simple rock into a focal point.

Patterns,

textures and contrasts

made for a spectacular day at Coastal Maine Botanical Garden.
