It was so beautiful yesterday that I spent my morning working on the porch. I made it through a Zoom meeting and another couple of hours of work before the sun slipped behind the clouds, chilling things down. It was absolutely lovely. No bugs. The wind chimes were tinkling. Robins, Chickadees, Goldfinch, Purple Finches, and Mourning Doves were busy in the yard. Gidget by my side.

I heard a rustle in the trees at the edge of the woods and got up to take a look. I spied a Northern Flicker pair checking each other out and doing a little courtship dance. When they spied me, they paused. When I left, they went back to their bobbing up and down. Not the best photos, but this sighting is a first for me – although their call a familiar sound in the woods.
