When I left the house this morning, the tide on the river was almost out. The sun was peeking out from behind the trees. It was easy to spot this silhouette of a Blue Heron fishing in the shallows.

I stopped the car and grabbed my camera that has lived in the car since my last outing. It was a brrr-cold night, and as soon as I pulled the camera out into the warming air, the lens began to fog. It took a moment for me to appreciate that it wasn’t my eyes feeling fuzzy.

I quickly wiped off the condensate from the lens with my shirttail and snapped another picture. Wipe, snap, Wipe, snap. Wipe, snap.

Lesson learned – don’t leave your camera in the car. Yet, the effect of the foggy lens is oddly appealing.
