One of the enduring signs of spring (if you’re paying attention) is the return of the Wood Duck to the ponds and rivers here in Maine. I was reminded of this when a friend shared a picture of a lone Wood Duck swimming on his pond this week. I find Wood Ducks one of the most beautiful birds. Their iridescent colors are impossible to reproduce in felt. It’s took many attempts of recreating this complicated bird before I landed on a design that I thought was simple enough for a small pattern. Enjoy!

I just found it . Like magic. Thank you for the wood duck. My grandchildren are loving the birds I sew using your patterns. Now some of the grandchildren can sew the birds themselves if I have them cut out. Always in my sewing basket is a bag or two of a cut out bird.
