I love days like today – sunny summer days when the only thought on my mind is working in the garden. It’s satisfying to see the garden producing. Although, harvesting from my garden is a bit like playing Twister. It’s so wildly overgrown that it’s tough to find a spot to step.

Today’s haul included pickling cucumbers, lemon cukes, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, green beans, carrots, scallions, the last of the blueberries, raspberries and blackberries.

Pumpkins are growing everywhere. This one is climbing the cucumber support.

Cucumber blossoms show the promise of more to come.

I harvested and cleaned 96 heads of garlic.

Some of the heads are as large as my fist.

The size of this year’s crop is notable considering this is what my garlic bed looked like – loaded with weeds and grass. I’m not quite sure how to recover this bed from my neglect.

I cut and loaded the dehydrator with marjoram and three different kinds of oregano for pizza sauce spice this winter.

I stumbled upon a patch of wild raspberries just slightly past their prime. The blackberry brambles are just starting to show ripe berries. I think this calls for wild berry muffins tomorrow morning.
