A Hover of Hummingbirds

Did you know a flock of hummingbirds is called a hover? Or a bouquet, a glittering, a shimmer, or a tune of hummingbirds? Regardless of the term, it looked like a hummingbird convention at the feeder last evening. They were zooming around so fast it’s pure luck that allowed me to get these photos.

I’ve only seen one so far, and your shots are gorgeous.

The hummingbirds around my house are so territorial that you very rarely see more than one on the feeder at a time. I have two feeders around the side of the house from each other to give two a chance at once.

Did you notice they are all females? I wonder if that has something to do with the group feeding. I too, am going to add a second feeder. Watching the is just so fun.
