This morning, we made a spur of the moment decision to trek to Deer Isle and watch Hannah’s first high school softball game. The guilt over abandoning the work on my desk lasted only until I was parked in my new camp chair soaking up the spring sunshine watching Hannah’s team play.

Before hitting the road, we did a global search in the garage for our camp chairs, but came up empty. The clock ticking, we stopped and bought new ones along the way. Don’t you hate it when you purchase something you know you already own, just because the garage has swallowed it up? The investment was worth it. I would not have enjoyed two-and-a-half hours on bleachers nearly as much.

Earlier in the year, Hannah assured me that she was “not gonna do it” when the subject of softball came up. It took a little coercion from her teammates for her to commit. Watching her have fun today makes me glad she did.

A little sunshine, a little softball, and a lot of beautiful scenery. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday.
