Recently, a friend shared beautiful pictures of bald eagles that she took along the Narraguagus River. I confess, I was a little envious. I’d driven past this stretch of the river many times without a single sighting. So the last couple of weeks I took special care to scan the trees along the river in Cherryfield when over in that direction. On Sunday morning, Hannah and I took a drive to scope out the scene. She spotted him first – sitting majestically in a tree. I pulled to the side of the road, plucked up my camera and started shooting. Only to discover that there was no memory card in the camera! Ugh! I snapped a couple of iPhone photos that were so grainy, they were worthless. As we watched, he left his perch, swooped down and plucked a fish from the river.

I returned to the scene on Monday, and there he was!

And then a bird’s eye view of me. He did an about face on the branch to keep an eye on me as I parked on the side of the road.

The day was overcast and the lighting dim – not the best shooting conditions, but I am excited to have spotted him and captured him on camera.

Guess you know where I’ll be next weekend!
