Something has invaded my kale bed. I went out last night to harvest some kale for dinner and found the entire bed nibbled within an inch of its life.

Upon further inspection, I found these tiny green worms to be the culprit.

I spent hours last night searching the Internet and reading up on these “loopers.” Most of the information I found recommended plucking the offenders off (impossible – there are too many) or treating with a spray of BT (bacillus thuringiensis) a naturally occurring bacteria. So I spent $30 today on the BT concentrate and a sprayer to treat my two beds of kale. As soon as I sprayed this evening, dozens of tiny little moth-like creatures erupted from the veggie bed. It appears I was a little late catching on to this invasion.

I could have purchased a whole lot of kale for $30, but it’s the principle of the thing!
