Hannah’s latest English class poem seems appropriate on this last day of summer.

The Coming of Fall

As the last day of summer was coming to an end,
I said goodbye to a silent friend.

As I was walking home,
My mind began to roam.

I saw the calming breeze,
Flow through the rustling leaves.

The colors brown, red, and yellow,
On the leaves of Oak, Birch, and Willow.

I began to walk along the beaten fence,
That was full of holes and dents.

I saw the house with its warm lights,
And passed the scarecrow that caused many frights.

I walked up to the Jack-o-lantern glowing bright,
Smiling back without a fight.

I thought about the impending Winter squalls,
But this was the coming of Fall.
