Farmer friends in Harrington called today to let us know that they were butchering meat chickens and we were welcome to come over and see their Whizbang Chicken Plucker in action. After reluctantly learning how to pluck chickens I needed to see this.

Redbird Farm is less than ten minutes away. In addition to chickens, they have an extensive garden where they grow certified organic veggies, goats, sheep, and a couple of pet rabbits.

This is the Whizbang Plucker. A pretty unassuming thing. Phil put two dispatched chickens in the barrel, flipped the switch and in less that three minutes, the chickens were beautifully plucked. I want one.

Honey, put it on the “to do” list!

Whizbang Chicken Plucker at Red Bird Farm

What we hadn’t expected at Redbird Farm were baby goats! They have five kids born from two mommas in the last two weeks.

Hannah, hesitant about all this farm stuff,  jumped at the chance to hold one of the babies.

And, in less than 10 seconds flat, she’s in love.

These babies will be ready to leave their momma in a couple of weeks.

Oh, no.
