We took advantage of a gorgeous end of summer day on Sunday and took Hannah to Fort Knox and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge Observation Tower.

Fort Knox was established in 1844 to protect the Penobscot River valley against possible British naval incursion. It’s in amazingly good condition. We had fun exploring the halls, imagining what life may have been like for the soldiers of the time.

The Penobscot Narrows Bridge Observation tower rises 420′ above sea level and provides a beautiful view 360 degree view of the Penobscot River valley. Hannah was a bit nervous looking down from the top. I, on the other hand, became a bit light headed while looking up at the observatory from the ground. Go figure.
